The Festool 497298 Carvex Jigsaw Low Friction - Dimpled Base Plate functions similar to a golf ball, but in reverse. The dimples are raised off the surface of the base meaning there is about 50 percent less surface area touching the material when compared to a flat base. The textured, low friction Festool Carvex 497298 base glides easily over wood and other wood like material. The dimpled texture does a great job preventing dust build up in front of the saw.
